About Us

To spend time with us is to know us.

We welcome you to our church, to visit and pray with us.

Our Beliefs

  • We aspire to keep the Triune God at the center of all we do and say, and we regard the historic, crucified and resurrected Jesus as the head of the church.

  • Hope in the Desert takes the authority of the Bible and church tradition seriously. We adhere to the ancient creeds of the universal church, such as the Nicene Creed (printed below).

  • We believe that the Holy Scriptures contain all things necessary to salvation, and that they are the rule and ultimate standard of the Christian faith.

  • Our earnest desire that the Savior's prayer, "That we all may be one," (John 17:21) may, in its deepest and truest sense, be realized in his church.

  • We believe that all who have been baptized with water, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, are members of the holy catholic (universal) church.

  • We believe that the Triune God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) desires that each human being be in a personal and loving relationship with God. This relationship is made possible by our repentance from a life of sin, by Jesus’ work at the Cross atoning for the sins of all humankind, by the new life offered to us through the Resurrection, and by the giving of the Holy Spirit to all who believe.

A Few Friendly Faces

Nicene Creed

We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary,
and was made man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come.
Amen.
